Celebrate CNY at Vision City and Get your luck this year!
Vision City Mega Mall will have a surprise for everyone on the 25th January 2020 with Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration at the mall. So, get ready with the surprises and have fun!
For those who doesn’t know much about Chinese New Year, here are some facts that Chinese do believe. Chinese New Year (CNY) is also called ‘Spring Festival’ and this 2020 is a Lunar New Year, a year of the Metal Rat. According to the Chinese calendar, the Lunar Year starts from January 25, 2020 until February 11, 2021. The CNY is a traditional holiday for Chinese, a time to honor the household and heavenly deities as well as ancestors, as they are treated as gods. This is considered and practiced as a ceremonial day to pray for good planting and harvest season. A great time for the most to bring the family together for feasting. They also believe that offerings will bring fortune and good luck to their ancestors in the afterlife.
Vision City Mega Mall pioneers the celebration in Port Moresby with the dance performances of the Lions. The lions are “feed” with red packets (or ang paw) with money inside to bring fortune or luck for someone who had given it. Usually the shop’s owner or Manager do this in behalf of their shop and feed the lions. Customers are welcome to do the same, so be sure to “feed the lions” to bring luck for the rest of the year.
The 25th January 2020 is the official day of CNY celebration at the mall, wherein you can witness the sounds of firecrackers and loud drums with Lion Dance performances. The Lion Dance will be starting at the Main Entrance, then spread out in the 25 shops from different locations to do the ceremonial dance at approximately 6 minutes on each. It is going to be a whole day event with the sounds of drums and dance acrobats at the mall. Don’t be surprised with their thrilling acrobats as they will go to the next level or as high as they could go so everyone would see their dance moves. The Mall Management welcome everyone to come and enjoy their breath-taking LIVE performances that will start from 10:30 am until they finish off the show in the middle of the mall.
Vision City Mega Mall is wishing you all the good luck this year, so get down at the mall on the 25th January and receive your lucky charms from the lions. Go near with them because they will be throwing away lucky charms at random people during their performances.
