DESCRIPTION:Port Moresby Youth Band from the Eyrie School of Music would like to bring you a new sound into the city with Christmas theme performance. \nThe Port Moresby Youth Band has started about 3 years ago with just a few students and has grown to over 20. The group band is made up of Papua New Guinean students\, playing flutes\, clarinets\, trumpets and trombones. \nTheir main goal is to reach as many PNG students who not only want to play instruments\, but also learn to read music.  By reading music\, it opens a whole new world to a different kind level of music\,  proving that they can learn to read and play\, not just playing “by ear”. \nMs. Marlene Schutter\, the Music Director of Eyrie School of Music\, trained young men and women who then taught students how to read music and play different musical instrument then put them together\, now known to many as the POM Youth Band. \nIt is definitely a new sound in the city. The performance will be a one day event only\, showcasing the music talents from Eyrie School of Music. DESCRIPTION:Watch the LIVE performance of the Lion and Dragon Dance Group on 9th February from 10:30am to 1:00pm at Vision City Mega Mall.  Celebrate and welcome the Year of the Pig with us! \nOn the 5th of February 2019 we wave good bye to the Year of the Dog and welcome the Chinese New Year\, year of the Earth Pig.  This lucky animal PIG symbolizes wealth\, their chubby faces and big ears are signs of fortune as well. Pigs have beautiful personality and are blessed with good fortune in life. \nChinese New Year is celebrated by more than 20% of the world. It is the most important of the Chinese holidays\, and it is a time of reunion and feasting with family\, celebration\, fireworks and gift giving. During this time\, the children receive a red packet with money inside ending in even numbers\, like “8” and commonly known as “Ang Pow” or “HongBao” which means red packet. This money is believed to help in blessing both elders and kids with greater fortune. \nVision City Mega Mall welcomes the Chinese New Year with fun and entertainment as part of the annual tradition of the mall.  The Mall Management and majority of the shops joined in one day to celebrate and welcoming the New Year with a full performance of the Lion and Dragon Dance Group.  The Lion and Dragon performers are both old traditions that demand acrobatic skill and years of tough training from the performers involved. The role of the Dragon and Lion Dance is to promote the spiritual construction\, physically and mentally. As most of the traditions of Chinese New Year\, the Chinese believes it will draw good fortune and prosperity to the business. \nIf you get the chance to be near any of these lions\, do not hesitate to stroke their head in a gentle manner. If a strand of hair fell on your palm naturally\, keep it!! In Chinese beliefs\, this hair symbolize good omen and draws fortune. \nGong Xi  Fa Chai everyone!
